My Psych/Soc story
How I turned Psych/Soc from my weakest section into my strongest
When I took my first diagnostic, I scored a 118 in Psych/Soc, the lowest of
any section. I'd taken exactly one psychology class, two years before my test
date. On paper, this section should have been the one that held me back.
It ended up being my best: a 132 on test day.
I stopped treating it as a memorization section.
Psych/Soc passages are built like research studies. Once I read them the way I read a Chem/Phys passage — what's the hypothesis, what was measured, what do the results actually support — most questions came down to reasoning, not recall.
I built a knowledge base with a small set of good resources.
Khan Academy, MCATalyst review sheets, flashcards, and structured question review.
I reviewed every miss until I knew why.
Each wrong answer was either a term I didn't know, a study I misread, or an answer choice I talked myself into. Naming the pattern told me exactly what to fix.
If Psych/Soc is the section dragging your score down, it doesn't have to stay that way. I'll show you the same approach.
